What is the Kanyike Project?

We are the leading UK charity helping the Kanyike villagers. 90% of them live in poverty. They trust and respect us as we have been working with them since 1986. Together with our partner charity in Uganda (Kainsude - Kanyike Initiative for Sustainable Development), we provide consistent, regular and ever increasing funding to kick-start a self-sufficient and sustainable way of life.

The project began in 1986 in an area devastated by many years of war by Fr. Kakuba Kapia, the driving force behind the vision of empowering members of the local community to support themselves. Click on the images to find out more.

Any work undertaken in the Project is suggested and implemented by the people in the villages. This ensures they have a sense of ownership of and pride in anything that takes place; nothing is imposed by anyone outside.

All of the money we raise goes directly to the Project. NONE is lost to administration. Every penny received goes directly to the people who need it most.
