Financial sustainability has been our goal since 1986 and we have explored several opportunities to increase local income.

Poultry is the clear winner.

By increasing our flock from 200 to 2,000 hens we should generate sustainable income to cover 40% of our running costs

The Big Give Christmas Challenge 2026 is our chance to raise the money we need to buy more chickens.
In our 10th Big Give Campaign and 40th year as the Kanyike Project, we are setting ourselves our highest ever target - £16,000

Our 2026 campaign is Chickens for Change - from coop to community

Chickens (and eggs) could be crucial for the future of the charity, potentially providing 40% of our annual running costs. That would be a milestone in our quest for sustainability.

To make a pledge for your chosen amount (minimum £100) please follow the link below before 28 August.

Because of the way the Big Give match funding works, the sum you promise could be quadrupled and will be at least doubled.

This sum doesn't not have to be paid until after noon on 8th December and can be made by bank transfer or cheque.
