Omataga’s house
This is Omutaka’s house. He is elderly and lives by himself. He was happy for this photo to be taken but didn't want to be photographed.
His house is a sturdy construction, but the tiny wooden structure on the right is his kitchen.
In villages such as the one where Omutaka lives:-
80% of households have mosquito nets - 20% are vulnerable to malaria
86% have pit latrines - 14% share with neighbours or go into the bush
76% have a kitchen like Omutaka's
73% have rubbish pits - 27% have nowhere to dispose of rubbish
All water has to be collected from a spring and it is difficult for people to boil water before drinking or to wash hands before eating.
